Today I had Grant and Don – 2 fun boys from Tennessee! Last year we has a great day with reds but this year we wanted to try something different.
The morning started off calm and we did a job on the big Spanish – waxing them on live bait. All were between 4-6lbs – we kept 2, released 6+ before switching over to some bass/flounder. It wasn’t happening for us so with building seas we decided to venture inshore were we found some big balls of menhaden off the beach.
Guess what? They were loaded with big spanish and we threw top water plugs at the bait balls getting savage strikes from 4-6lb Spanish. It is not common to catch Spanish that big on artificials – what an awesome sight guys!
