This year the Bonito run was absolutely fantastic. While my time at the roanoke limited my effort this year in the peak of the season, Neal caught our first fish on April 1#th and was steady until the 1rst week of May. They slowed down after a few days of wacky weather and ended with a huge bang around the 12th or so of May with Will, Ashley and Lila just waxing them.
Alex had one of the best days I can remember in years – it was slick calm, we were hte only boat on the water and he caught them every drift for hours mostly on topwater. I even caught to catch a few that day as welll!
Per my theory – Bonito are usually tied to the abundance of these huge bay anchovies. If they are here – so will the bonito.
