There’s a difference between inshore and near offshore and that difference is mahi- mahi and grouper

And the grouper bite is outstanding – the new regulations for gag grouper (implemented 3yrs ago) are working wonders and there are excellent numbers of them out there.

But – back to the difference. While I catch some grouper in my 6hr trip range – full days give us the gas and time to really get on the fish.

Here’s 2 reports that really explain that difference.

Saturday – 6hr trip. Tim, Tim and co – gorgeous day started off choppy and was slick within 2hrs. We caught several nice flounder and waxed the sea bass before we had to come in due to a bought of sea sickness. Great fishing, however.

Sunday – full day. Great weather and we took advantage of it – limits of sea bass and limits of nice gag grouper. In fact we threw back multiple keepers looking for a few bigger ones. We also caught nice flounder, triggerfish etc

We all know the dolphin come in in June too – ill be posting pics of folks who gamble on the full day for them.

Want to catch grouper? The fishery is in great shape, just give me a full day.

My crew didn’t want any pics today – so here’s me with a couple of nice gags, caught today.
