After a few days of gale conditions, the ocean let up and we were able to get out and chase after the Bonito. I had clients lined up and we were good to go. While the fishing was not RED HOT, it was very steady and we were averaging about 6-8 Bonito each morning. We also had a decent flounder bite and plenty of bluefish to keep us entertained.

The water temps have been good but we have been suffering from a lack of bait – there has been a weird temp break off of New River Inlet where the water temp jumps from 63 to about 68-69 and the Bonito, Spanish and gobs of bait have been STACKED UP. I have no doubt this will all improve in short order.

Jay and “Craig the Pro” (two of my favorite clients, period) came aboard and we had a wonderful time this morning. It was a little slow to start (and crowded on a pretty saturday), but we moved a couple of times and finally found a pretty darn good bite in the blind. Jay was hot early this morning catching several (including an official 8.3lb citation) but Craig finished extremely strong – boating several, a very big bluefish and rounding it out with a nice keeper flounder. Awesome!

Bruce and Jacob had a pretty great day – slow start first thing but we found them good come about 8am and picked away at them in the blind all morning. We did lose several at the boat, but we finished strong on a knot of nice flounder and were able to bucktail 4 big keepers (two biggest were 21″) before heading back in!
